Streaming readiness check.
Speed tests are a starting point, not a verdict. Stability and headroom matter more than a big number.

What actually matters for live streaming
- Upload speed — streams send data up, not down. A few Mbps of stable upload is the floor for 720p.
- Latency — lower is better for interactivity; high or jittery latency breaks live chat.
- Stability — packet loss and dropouts matter more than peak speed.
- Ethernet vs Wi-Fi — Ethernet is materially more stable for live work; Wi-Fi is a convenience, not a substitute.
- Resolution & bitrate — 720p is a sensible default; 1080p needs more upload headroom.
- Backup — a phone hotspot as a fallback for when the main line drops.
Quick reference
| Resolution | Recommended upload (with headroom) |
|---|---|
| 720p | ~4–6 Mbps stable |
| 1080p | ~8–12 Mbps stable |
